Join us for a lunchtime concert given by local young musicians either about to begin study at Conservatoire or have already started. Including an extra performance from a GCSE student's composition for string quartet.

Thatcher Lai - Composer from Rugby School 

​

String Quartet No.1 in F Minor – 1st Movement is a classical piece composed in 2024 for Thatcher’s GCSE Music coursework. This piece is inspired by composers including Felix Mendelssohn and Dmitri Shostakovich. This piece is written in sonata form with a relatively fast tempo, with each section intending to express a sense of anxiety (from exams), mysteriousness, and thrill.

FREDDIE BENEDICT QUINTET

Come along to an evening of jazz featuring well-known songs and original numbers. There's something for everyone! 

 

Freddie was born from an artistically theatrical family, joining a local church choir in South London as a child, which sent him on his way to becoming the ambitious, and talented performer you’ll see on stage. His vocal talents have seen him play at some of the most sought after and iconic venues all over the world, with the Carnegie Hall, Glyndebourne, the Royal Opera House, Ronnie Scott’s, The Ritz and The Savoy to name but a few. Most recently, he was asked to sing at the BBC Proms, celebrating the centenary of Henry Mancini.
