About the Event

Join us for our online festival finale featuring the Great Bowden Camerata including the popular string orchestra work St Paul's Suite and Telemann Viola Concerto with Music Fest viola player Johannes Gürth.

Johannes Gürth comes from Vienna/Austria. He moved to Switzerland and has been a member of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich since 1990. He studied in Vienna and Salzburg with T. Riebl, Bern and the Banff Centre in Canada. During his studies, he played at the Vienna State Opera, Camerata Salzburg as principal viola with Sandor Vegh, and as soloist with chamber orchestras like Sinfonietta Salzburg. Johannes has performed in a variety of chamber music groups, alone at Zürich Tonhalle in 35 different programmes. In 2011-13 he was guest performer in festivals in Denmark in Langvad-Northjutland and contemporary music in Copenhagen with 'Scenatet'. With the Broadway string quartet he appeared in May 2016 in the Grosser Saal of Tonhalle Zürich in Ravel string quartet, played from memory. Additionally he is currently a member of Sonor Ensemble (violas, cello, bass), and Wiener Salon Ensemble.  Johannes has been broadcast on ORF Austria, CBC Canada and SRF Switzerland.
